Ash Wednesday Service

  • Trinity Presbyterian Church 640 Berwyn Avenue Berwyn, PA, 19312 United States (map)

Every year, Christians within the Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Moravian, Anglican, Methodist, Reformed and Nazarene traditions mark the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent is a season in which we reflect upon and contemplate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Robert Weber writes of lent

“it calls us back to God, back to basics, back to the spiritual realities of life.

It calls on us to put to death the sin and indifference that we have in our hearts toward God and our fellow persons.

And it beckons us to enter once gain into the joy of the Lord—the joy of new life born out of a death to the old life.”

This year, we will mark the beginning of lent at our Ash Wednesday service with prayers, with scripture, and with the imposition of Ashes. We will remember Christ’s call to practice our piety in faith, to pray, to give alms, and to fast. And you will be invited to personally commit to your relationship with God in this season. I hope you will consider joining us.
